Who we are and what we do

We hire incredible people from our community with a variety of work background but have one thing in common – they love pets. Some are former clients – others are from the Senior Job Bank or the college-aged children of my clients.  When we do hire from an online job listing, we make sure to run background checks and check references to make sure we are keeping everyone safe.  Without a great team to call on, the wonderful hands-on care your pets receive would not be possible. They are dedicated pet professionals who love animals and enjoy helping people. They come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences which really help us in giving the best care to every pet. We are bonded, insured and members of the International Association of Canine Professionals.  We also have employees, not contractors so we carry the required workers’ comp insurance.

About the Owner

Bob Duncan

I rescued my first dog in May of 2000.  He was a standard dachshund named Iggy.  In 2002 I signed Iggy up for “playgroup” with a new company called Dog Days of West Hartford.  In 2004 the company I was working for was bought out and Connecticut offices shut down.  The same day, the owner of Dog Days notified me that he too was going out of business. I gave him a call and asked if he was interested in selling.  Along the way I’ve learned a lot about dogs, their behaviors and their needs.  I’ve worked with several trainers over the years and I’ve belonged to both Pet Sitters’ International and IACP where I learned many valuable things about running a pet business and the many things that come up when caring for pets.  Since its inception, Dog Days has always commitment to providing pets with the best care possible and owners with the best service. Having been a customer, I understand what it feels like to allow someone in your home to care for you pets.  I take that knowledge with me into the business and treat your property and your pets with the utmost care.   

I reside in West Hartford with my partner and our two dogs, Harry and Mia. The business is now part time but love every minute I get to spend working on it.
