Dog Days of West Hartford: Policies

Payment

Payments for weekly dog walking and playgroups are due on Friday of each week for that week’s service unless you are part of our monthly billing program.*

In-home pet-sitting clients are expected to leave a check at their home upon leaving for their trip unless also part of monthly billing program.*

Cancellations

If you need to cancel a visit, please do so as early as possible.  You will be charged 100% of the cost of the visit if you cancel with less than 24-hours notice.

Returned Check Fee

There is a $25 charge for a returned check.

Holidays

We adhere to the schedule of holidays used by the Federal Government.  All services provided on these days will be subject to the $10 holiday charge.  This is a one-time charge applied to the day and not to each visit.

Extra Fees / Charges Policy

Dog Days of West Hartford reserves the right to invoice/bill, at $45.00 per half hour or any portion thereof, for additional time spent over a 30-minute visit that is necessary for the care of the Client's pet(s) and home.  This includes service and time for the following, but not limited to: all veterinary trips; pet illness; excessive clean-up resulting from pet accidents; complications administering medications; obtaining pet food, medication or supplies, and wait time for emergency home repair.

Key Policy

Two working copies of your house keys must be provided at time of registration/consultation.  These keys will be kept on file for future pet sitting (avoiding the $10 drop-off and $10 pick-up fees).  No keys will be mailed by regular mail, hidden outside or locked in homes on last visits.  Should keys become unusable, locks malfunction, or for any other reasons beyond pet sitters control, Dog Days of West Hartford and pet sitters have authorization to employ the services of a locksmith to gain entry into a clients home on the clients behalf.  Client will be responsible for all expenses incurred and reimburse Dog Days of West Hartford upon return.

Emergency Care Policy

In the event of pet illness or other medical emergency and specified vet is unavailable, pet will be taken to closest vet or Connecticut Veterinary Center.  Client understands and agrees that attempts will be made to contact them in case of emergency. If the Client is unreachable, Dog Days of West Hartford and its Team Members have permission to authorize any care that the vet deems necessary for pet's health, safety and survival.  The Client agrees to reimburse Dog Days of West Hartford for any additional fees and all costs relating to vet care during their absence, which may include x-rays, blood work, surgery and/or other procedures, as well as the additional time spent by a Dog Days of West Hartford Team Member.

For the safety of your pet and others, pets must have current vaccinations.  Should a Dog Days Team Member be bitten or otherwise exposed to any disease or ailment received from Client's animal which has not been properly vaccinated, it will be the Client's responsibility to pay all costs and damages incurred by the victim.
